FEB 27, Tuesday – VEGAN BASIC COOKING SKILLS - FREE - 7:00 PM East End Food Co-op and Café, 7516 Meade Street, Pgh 412-242-3598.  With Mike Elliot.  Through the preparation of a simple vegan meal from scratch, basic cooking skills will be taught. In this 90 minute class you will learn: how to cut vegetables (dice, mince, slice, chiffonade), steam vegetables, cook rice, make a vinaigrette, saute and more. The vegan meal, which you will sample, will be bruschetta with roasted garlic and roasted red peppers, tossed salad, steamed vegetables, rice pilaf and sleek (Middle Eastern dish of spinach, black-eyed peas, caramelized onions and lemon).

MAR 22, Thursday – LUNCH & LEARN: Japanese Printmaking Traditions – 10:00AM $44.00.  412-622-3288.  Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Oakland 412-622-3131 Lunch provided in the Carnegie Café.  Participants board a bus at Carnegie Museum of Art and travel to the Frick Art and Historical Center for a guided tour of The Prints of Tsukioka Kôgyo (1869-1927), an exhibition featuring colorful works by this master Japanese printmaker. Return to the museum for lunch in the Carnegie Café before enjoying a presentation by Amanda Zehnder, exhibition curator of Modern Japanese Prints.
