MAR 15, Thursday – CAP GUN QUARTET – 7:00PM - $5.00 - Club Café 56-58 South 12th Street, South Side 412-431-4950.  This show is the first in a while without our recent guest poets, so we'll be bringing the big amps.  Opening up will be the Improv Project, featuring my good friend and great bass player Eric Riebling. “When Pittsburgh’s erstwhile defenders of the avant-jazz-rock keep, the Water Shed 5tet, called it quits, it provided Pittsburgh’s cultural map with a shake-up of Soviet Union separation proportions. It can be argued that none of the post-Water Shed groups that have sprung up in recent times rival their parent in balancing somewhat wide appeal with sheer musical inventiveness.


MAR 17, Saturday – ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE – 10:00 AM  Downtown Pittsburgh.  The St. Patrick's Day Parade has been a Pittsburgh tradition for nearly 140 years. It is the largest parade in Pittsburgh and one of the largest St. Patrick's Day Parades in the country. You don't have to be Irish to enjoy this great event!  AND everyone knows you will find green beer all over town after the Parade.  Hit Market Square!

MAR 31, Saturday – OUT OF HAND - Society for Contemporary Craft, 2100 Smallman Street, Strip District.  412-261-7003.  Each year several hundred patrons, artists and art aficionados gather to celebrate the role of the hand in the creation of art. Silent and Live auctions of works by nationally recognized artists are part of the excitement. Guests also enjoy specialty martinis, fine wine, exquisite hors de oeuvres and dance to live music throughout the evening. Regional artists are on hand all evening to demonstrate their craft form and help revelers get their hands into a project. Fires, ice, silk and wood are just a few of the mediums guests can sample.  Benefits: Society for Contemporary Craft's exhibitions and programs which are free to the public.
